We watched a nest of eagles across the river from the time the eggs were laid until they left in the fall. It was a cool experience and inspired this poem that was published in our local paper.

I saw an eagle fly today;

White head in contrast to the darkness of the trees.

He flies high above the river and

Floats lightly on the breeze.

The young ones have left

To see what the outside world will bring

He will brave the winter storms alone

And start over in the spring.
