The Omniscient Elected

How to Increase Your IQ

I read in the paper this morning that Governor Inslee was called to testify before a congressional committee investigating the nation’s response to the COVID 19 pandemic. Although none of his measures have actually worked, he has issued more than his share of mandates and is, therefore, considered an expert on the subject. I see it as a prime example of the blind leading the blind.

At the beginning of the pandemic, our Governor locked down the state except for a few “essential” enterprises. I wondered at the logic that deemed pot shops essential businesses. The only answer I could come up with was the Governor and his friends had recently backed legalization of marijuana and keeping the shops open was essential to his political fortunes. I was more interested in the list of non-essential activities. Not only were restaurants and construction curtailed, but schools and churches as well. I can understand school children don’t vote, so there was no need to pander to education. The majority of Christians must have supported candidates other than the governor, so a ban on religious gatherings was good political logic. He was elected, however, so he must be smarter than the average citizen.

Our medical schools only take the best and brightest candidates. That makes sense. I wouldn’t want someone diagnosing my rare illnesses with an IQ lower than I have. Medicine is a difficult science. The human body is a complicated machine and successful surgeons have to be the best of the best. But being duly elected to the highest office in our state, Governor Inslee has decided that he and he alone could determine the priority of patient care. He recently mandated all non-critical surgeries be put on hold until he decided otherwise. He didn’t confer with hospital administrators. He didn’t confer with doctors. He just shut it down.

If getting elected to a state office increases an office holder’s IQ think what it must do on a national level. It hasn’t been too long ago that Patty Murry couldn’t get a job except as a soccer mom in tennis shoes. Now having been elected and five times re-elected, she charts our nation’s health and education policy. Go figure. Consider our President. His IQ must have at least doubled when he was elected. I would wager that Putin is terrified President Biden will outsmart him.

It has been two years since our Governor ran proposals through the Legislature. Our state constitution specifies the Governor can exercise emergency powers for a 30-day period. He has been smart enough to extend the 30-day provision to 36 months. You can’t get much smarter than that. Keep in mind this is the same guy who brought a bushel of wormy apples to fire victims in Malden. If he is smart enough to get the press to soft soap that, he is smart enough to rule as king for life.
